Cal Poly Announces Appointment of New Public Affairs Director

Cal Poly has named a new director of public affairs:
Leah Kolt, formerly with the Colorado School of Mines,
a public university with an emphasis on engineering.
Kolt began work March 3 at Cal Poly and will supervise
the university's internal and external communications

I was at a talk on Google by Eric Schmidt today, and asked him why Google bought Pyra Labs, which runs Blogger. He said that decisions at Google are a bottom-up process, and the decision to buy Blogger came out of their process, but that it was motivated by a desire to encourage the creation of content, as helping people find content is core to Google's business.

W3C holds its third annual Technical Plenary and All Working Group Meeting from 3-7 March in Cambridge, MA, USA. More than 25 W3C Working Groups and Interest Groups hold face-to-face meetings. Mid-week, many of the 400 participants attend the all day public plenary.

Suan La Chow Show
Suan La Chow Show at Mary Chung in Cambridge., MA. At dinner with Micah Dubinko at Mary Chung. We had Suan La Chow Show, a hot and spicy wonton dish on bean sprouts that they have been serving to rave reviews since 1981, in Central Square. Micah forwent a group dinner at a Cajun place a block from the W3C meetings to try the restaurant with me.
