This may sound incredibly silly but I've inhereted this camera from my dad and I can't get it open! Its a folding camera with Graflex on the front, a Kalart side mounted rangefinder on the side. I tried pressing a button beneath the leather on the top of the camera but obviously that didn't work. Can you guide a total novice on how to open a camera that means a great deal (emotionally)to the owner? |

OK, grab that beast by the sides and turn the bed toward you. Graflex tab should be on top and readable. See those chrome knurled things to the left and right? They are called focus knobs, yes they're connected. Turn them up toward the top of the camera. Did they move a little?? Yes, then push down on that little button under the covering and maybe pull a little on the bed. DO NOT PRY! The bed is aluminum and will warp.
