A negative shot through a cloudy lens:

A. will be under exposed, if properly metered since the light hit the cloud and some of it dispersed.

B. May lack sharpness. depending on the density of the clouds ( cirrus clouds can be shot through, but if you get a cumulonimbus in your Wollensak, whew give it up!!! Ahem. Where was I?)

C. Definite lack of contrast. All that light bouncing around in the lens will surely end up as overall density in the shadow areas. They will print grey instead of black, giving a flat look to the print.

....and if you've ever had a cumulonimbus in your Wollensak you know how painful that can be!
