At top center of the front standard is what appears to be a knurled screw in a threaded hole. What is the function of the screw? I ask because there's a nice G-View II on the 'bay right now at a good price, but it's missing this screw. (item #250859131357). Thanks!

Please give me a reason not to buy this thing. I would have absolutely no use for it, but it's such a nice piece, and every time one comes up I start to salivate. Totally irrational, I know, and so far I've resisted, but some day....

Henry,

1 if by chance you found a genuine Graflex View compendium somewhere at a fair price, how would you attach it to the standard ?

2 I sadly can't give you a good reason since I personnaly searched one in vain prior to buying mine last year…

Enjoy it…

Georges

Thank you, gentlemen. Much appreciated! I guess I'm not the only one who is attracted to this camera!

I have a GV compendium, and that's where it attaches. I don't use it, and the screw is going to fall off and get lost one of these days, I guess. Or I could play it safe and put it someplace where I wouldn't lose it, which means in effect that I'd never see it again.

Unscrew the screw, apply a drop of rubber cement to the tip of the threads then screw it firmly into the socket on the camera. Option #2, tighten finger tight then snug 1/16 to 1/8 turn (1 to 2 minute marks on a watch) with a pair of pliers.

The screw can also be used to attach a Graflite flash bracket as well as a lens hood.
