It weighs 200 lbs, according to the desciption, but the shipping is only $35 and it has a simple single handle on the top for carrying?

Also, what WOULD one photograph with a 30" focal length? The moon?

One would use a 30" lens on the 4" x 5" format to shoot the same things that would call for a 200mm to 300mm lens on the 35mm format.
30"is six times the long way of the 4" x 5" format, 200mm is 5.56 times and 300mm is 8.33 times the long way of the 35mm film format.

I see what you're saying. Still, this is not terribly maneuverable. You wouldn't be doing much wildlife photography with something like this. I suppose you could get some cool moon shots, however.

It's still an interesting piece, and I am glad it got posted here. Just another possibility with a Speed Graphic!

I believe you put one too many zero's after the two on the wieght....it's 20lbs instead of 200.

Nope, the real point of the box is to support the lens and the camera. A dinky little piece of plastic pipe won't do.
