I have a Speed Graphic with a side-mounted Kalart rangefinder. I do have the appropriate cam for my lens. I was unable to get any sort of image through the rangefinder and, upon deconstruction of this bit of equipment, I noticed that both of my mirrors are so de-silvered that they are essentially just glass.

Is there a source for NOS mirrors or replacement mirrors for these? Is my only option really to try and buy another rangefinder? Does anyone re-silver these sorts of mirrors or perform RF repair?

Thanks in advance,
Adam

www.graflex.org >technical information>Fixing Bad Mirrors in Rangefinders and Adjusting your Kalart Rangefinder.

The Kalart and Hugo Meyer SIDE rangefinders DO NOT use cams.

The Graphic TOP rangefinder DOES use cams.

Thank you, 45PSS!

That article by Ed Romney plus the links to the items are just what I needed.

I am using the wrong term. I have this arm that goes from the rangefinder to the focusing bed. I am not sure what it is called. It moves the insides of the Kalart RF, so it must be for something. It was not functioning and not connected fully when I bought the camera, but then again the seller was clear that it was non-functioning so it wasn't a nasty surprise.

Best,
Adam

Your in initial question type gets asked several times a year so you have your work cut out for you.

If you search (this site's search function) for Kalart you will get 498 posts to read thru; if you search for keyword kalart rangefinder then select search for all the terms you get 294 posts. You can refine further by selecting the fourm.

Somewhere in the first 4 years of posts (2001-2005) is the information on how to connect and adjust the arm.

This may be of help also:
http://www.xs4all.nl/~lommen9/kalart/index.html
I cannot vouch for the information found there.

I figured I was asking the question that has been asked many times before, but numerous Google searches hadn't returned anything even half as useful as your first reply here to this post.

I am going to get those replacement mirrors and then go from there. The worst that may happen is that I don't get it working again, but I think I have a good shot of getting it to work.

Thank you for all your help!
