Is there any reason why you couldn't use the 7 inch reflector and large screw based bulbs on a 2-cell handle? Or should I just stick with the Press 25's and the smaller reflector?

Thanks

No problem with using the larger reflector. Are you using the 2772 case with the 2747 reflector?

Yes, that is what I'm doing. I don't like the way the 2745 reflector base retains the bulbs...it always feels like I'm going to break the bulb when I push it in. I prefer the standard twist & lock bayonet mount. Thankfully I have an adapter to use the smaller bayonet base bulbs in the screw type base.

Use the http://www.southbristolviews.com/pics/Graphic/manual-pdf/GrafliteService.pdf and check the lamp release for proper operation. Sounds like something is not moving far enough to allow the bulb to be fully released.

If the above link goes bad: http://www.southbristolviews.com/ graflex manuals link in the left plane.

A small-town Minnesota newspaper editor, owner, photographer that I knew used flashbulbs right up until the late 1970's. He shot Plus-X in a Mamiya TLR and used #5 clear bulbs. He would always lick the base of the bulb before inserting it into the flashgun. Not a good idea. I doubt if it helped the electrical connection much and as an added effect, I'm sure mild lead poisoning from the solder on the tip of the base attaching the wire up to the filament....
