When I began in the news business, I had a Speed Graphic with a great
127mm Ektar. That was 1959. I'd like some help finding a copy of that lens for my current use on my 4x5 Crown. I've checked all of the better known
retailers of used equipment without luck, so any leads will be very much appreciated.

Hi Dick, there are several on the major auction site right now. Search under 'ektar' or 'ektar 127mm'. Good luck!!
Cheers,
Bruce

You are quite right. I found several possibilities. I've bid on one. If the cells are good, I'll have Grimes & Co remount it in a Copal #1. -Dick

Why not just get a nice one in a good Supermatic X shutter. Something about twenty dollar lens in two-hundred dollar shutter doesn't add up.

Dick, unless it is in a Compur or Prontor ("Mount 370"), having the cells remounted in a #1 won't be cost-effective.

Most 127s were sold in Supermatics, and these shutters don't conform to the Compur/Prontor/Copal standard.

Supermatic shutters are a pretty reliable old workhorse. Flutot's Camera Repair will do a CLA on it for 50 bucks. Grimes is good but more expensive. It would save you hundreds of dollars.
