Does anyone know of a source for the rechargeable batteries for the strobonar 772? I just picked one up and it only works with the AC cord plugged in.

I can't verify this info as I haven't yet gotten around to replacing the nicads in my 700 & 770s. I've been told that the sub-C size batteries in the Makita 9.6(?) volt battery pack for cordless drills etc. has the proper sized nicads. I'm assuming the 772 uses the same battery pack.

Check the size of the battery with standard "C"batteries if they fit you can get the "C" rechargables at Radio Shack. If they do not fit, then you need the Sub-C size
(Which it think it is) Radio Shack also has Sub-C solder tab type but you will have to order them and are expensive. http://www.radioshack.com/category.asp?catalog%5Fname=CTLG&category%5Fname=CTLG%5F004%5F009%5F001%5F000&Page=11
A while ago sub-c's were readily available on the electronic surplus market but that seems to have dried up.
Another source is Batteries America

If you haven't already found a supplier, I recently heard from another Strobonar user who had his sub-Cs replaced by Batteries America in MN. They charged him $15.00 to replace the 4 sub-Cs in a pack on a 770. Either they goofed, or that is one heck of a deal since they did the installation too.
