This odd tool was in an envelope at the bottom of my View II camera case. Is it specific to the View camera or just an odd tool carried by the former owner?

What you have there is a spanner, of the sort used to remove jam nuts from the rear threads of lenses, retaining rings and the like. It looks like a nice one, but I can't imagine its being specific to the "Graphic View" (or any other single camera). |

I bought mine at K&S for $30 six years ago now they charge $60.
It is used to loosen/tighten lens mount rings.
To use said spanner-loosen knurled knob(s) at the top of a leg, reposition leg as needed so that sloted ends fill slot of lens retaining ring fully, and re tighten. This tool works best when equal lengths of the cross bars are on each side of the legs.
