Can't seem to find any advice/instructions on adjusting tensioning/speeds on focal plane shutter. (2x3 Pacemaker) Can anyone help, please?
Am also interested to learn if it is possible to synch strobe to this shutter.
And finally, would like to date this camera,
S/N 413326. Can't find a date code anywhere on it.
Many thanks in advance.......

The camera was made in 1947

The PM 2x3 Speed has a disadvantage over the older Mini in this situation, since the PM has only a High and Low tension.

Original FP flash bulbs burned at a constant light output long enough for the slit of the shutter to travel the height of the negative.

With stobe flash on the other hand, the shutter needs to be full open when the flash goes off.

This forces you to use only the T Setting.Any other setting will only give you a partial image.

This had two problems. One, it stops when fully open, so you'll need to double pump the shutter, possibly blurring the photo if there is sufficient ambient light.

And Two, this setting is at the end of the springs wind and in most cases not powerful enough to close it with any vigor. Minis can be tensioned up to their max (6) and get this speed to work.

Their are several people selling repair manuals for these cameras and I"m certain there are instructions to adjust the shutter.

The least of the problems would be to move the copper/brass contact on the shutter fabric to get the strobe to time properly with the open shutter

What Les says is true about the hi lo tension
on the Pacemaker--however--if the proper tension is not applied to the shutter---then nothing works--
I have instructions for adjusting the shutter
tension--for both old and PM style hardware!
Can only send it via email--so contact me
