Will a focus panel from any 4x5 graflok back camera be interchangable? That is, will a 4x5 focusing panel from an XL fit the graflok back of my super graphic?

Isn't the XL a 2x3 camera?

Cheers,

Dan

Ah, yes, thanks. Could the focusing panel from any 4x5 camera with a graflok back be used on amy other 4x5 camera with a graflok back? Are there different types of graflok backs for the same format?

The "Graflok" focusing panel on my 4X5 "Pacemaker Speed" interchanges readily with the one on a "Graphic View II." I haven't examined a wide range of equipment, but I'd guess that the focusing panel of any "Graflok" back for a given format will fit any other "Graflok" back of the same format.

I'm not as familiar with the "XL" as I might be, but is there not something unusual about the back? I seem to recall that a back adapter was available to permit using accessories, particularly "Polaroid" backs, made for a larger format.

The Super series has different DNA (the RB chromosome) and they can't interbreed with the Pacemaker line, but the rest of the Pace line will interchange within their size and the 4x5 will switch with the Graphic View, though the paint will be different.

And there is a little interspecies crossover in the 2x3 class as the XL, Pacemaker, the Graflok back for the MIniature Speed and I believe Century will all interchange.

Any Graflok accessory will fit any Graflok, or International* back of the same size. That is what it was all about.

*An International back is just a Graflok back made by someone else. Most modern 4x5 cameras have them.
