Hello all,
I recently bought a 4x5 Auto (straight Graflex back) and have been trying to come up with a way to modify it to accept the Grafmatic I use on my Speed and View cameras. Has anyone done this before? The only other option I can come up with are Bag Mags - I'm not so sure about those things being light tight, though. Any suggestions?

What is the specific problem--flange thickness--size of opening--I have a
4x5 grafmatic that I have used on a
D and a B model 4x5, as well as speed
and crown with the flex backs! The age
sometimes makes a diff., as some dims
changed over the years! I havent had
any luck posting photos or sketches to
the helpboard, but can email them--so
if you wish, we can kick options around
this way! I have always in the past
posted solutions to the helpboard, after
a solution is found! Bert

Hey Bert,
The slide lock/retaining strip don't come close to locking the Grafmatic in place (opening between the two is too wide). Also, there is no "stop" for the Grafmatics' ridge to keep it in place when pulling the darkslide (like on the graflok) so it pulls the whole holder from the back of the camera even with the slide lock in place. I'd appreciate any pics/help you could send along - I really like this camera and would like to make a good user out of it. Thanks.

The Super-D will take a Speed Graphic Graflok. It may be necessary to drill a couple of holes in the back.
The Graflok made for the Super-D doesn't have the peep sight for the wire frame finder.
It will be necessary to adjust the position of the finder ground glass to match the focal position of the Graflok.
