I just bought an almost mint Crown Graphic made in 1948. It has no rangefinder on it. Did they come this way? How many were made with no rangefinders? I guess I just set the distance on the rail when hand holding it. It has a nice 127 Ektar on it.

As far as I can remember from a 1940s edition of Graphic-Graflex Photography the Kalart rangefinder was mentioned as an accessory. Could be your camera was used as a view camera, i.e. focusing on the ground glass.

It looks like a regular Crown Graphic and has the distance scale on the rail. It has an adjustable parallax correcting view finder atop it, but no rangefinder. It also has the frame finder and collapsible rear folding eye piece. How do I insert a photo of it here?

Upload it to the image hosting site of your choice, several free one exists such as http://www.imageshack.us/ then link to or embed here using the code supplied by the hosting site.

Billy is correct, rangefinders were an accessory.
http://www.cameraeccentric.com/html/info/graflex_9.html page 6 lists the rangefinders and additional costs for them.

Well, the Crown Graphic without the rangefinder arrived by mail today from E-Bay. It was too good to be true. I immediately recognized it as a 2x3 Crown G. and not a 4x5 like it was advertised to be.
