It's both, appparently. IOW there are two names. I have the GrafTAR, and can't speak to the GrafLAR, but I agree with you: the TAR is a very useable, perhaps underrated, lens, and the Century shutter is generally trouble free, in my experience. It also synchronizes automatically (i.e., the user doesn't have to make settings) with flash. |

When the Century came out in '49, it came equipped with the 103mm Trioptar. Within a year or two the name changed to Graftar. Same lens, same shutter, different name. Both were made by Wollensak. Sometime in the 60's, the Graflar came out which is a Rodenstock Trinar design that was only sold in the EV coupled Prontor SVS shutter. It was not offered in any other shutter combo. |

Aha! Thanks for that info. Different lens designs, in different shutters. I have wondered why there were two so similar names; now I know. |

I have a 101mm Graflar # 3813845 & by Rodenstock S# that make it about a 1956 ?? |
