Hi,

Can anyone suggest a source for moroccan leather, or something that looks similar to the original covering of these cameras?

I have a 5x7 Press to recover, so I need quite a bit of the stuff. It has very little of the orig leather hanging on, most has fallen / chipped off.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Unfortunately, leather such as this is extremely hard to get now. My suggestion would be to contact www.cameraleather.com and ask them what they can provide. If they can't come up with something, perhaps they can point you in the right direction. Good luck.

They didn't have enough to cover an RB67 when I asked a while back, I doubt they'll be able to provide enough for a reflex.

I ended up buying my own from a leather store and doing it myself. It was much less difficult than I would have thought.

Sorry this follow up took so long....

Since finishing this I also recovered a 4x5 Auto Graflex, so my Home Portrait is next.

Cheers
Rob

Excellent work Rob!

Where did you end up getting the leather from?

Cheers,
Bruce

Hi Bruce,

Thanks...

Actually I used Bookbinding leather which is a composite leather.....I got it from Denver Bookbinding.

http://www.denverbook.com/

The 4x5 Auto I redid in 1oz pigskin I got off e-bay......Ill post some pics of it. The Bookbinding leather was easier to apply but the pigskin looks better.

I'm still looking for some thin 1oz leather with moroccan grain. Id like to refinish my Home Portrait in something as orig as possible.

If anyone knows of a source .....I'd love to hear about it.

Cheers
Rob
