I'm considering getting a 4x5 RB for portrait work, but I haven't seen any specs here for the bellows draw. I'd like to do tight closeups, likely with a lens in the 12"+ range. I've read that Graflex made a long bellows version as well. Anyone know the numbers for both the regular RB Super D and for the extended version? Thx. _________________ Speak softly and carry a big camera. |

series D & Super D....12"
RB Auto 18.5"
RB auto 3x4 15.5"
5x7 Home Portrait 13.75"
Unless that 12" lens is a tele, I think you're gonna need an RB Auto.... and a very sturdy tripod. Shooting any Graflex hand held with a 12+" lens on the far end and (i'm assuming) a shallow depth of field, will take a refrigerator full of film to master. _________________ "In order to invent, you need a good imagination and a lot of junk" Thomas Edison |

Thanks, Les. I'll be looking out for the Auto before I cross that street. _________________ Speak softly and carry a big camera. |

One thing you'll have to get used to, things were a lot slower back then. They used to say that with a Graflex you can view the image until the 'instant' the picture is taken.
That instant is really about a 1/5 of a second, which is about the same time those really really slow to focus, point and shoots take to focus and shoot.
I use a 3x4 and a variety of soft focus and overly fast lenses to shoot portraits. _________________ "In order to invent, you need a good imagination and a lot of junk" Thomas Edison |
