I have recently acquired the following lenses and shutters for possible use in my 4x5 Anniversary Speed Graphic:

101mm f4.5 Ektar in Supermatic Shutter
105mm f3.7 Ektar (front cell only), no shutter or rear cell
127mm f4.7 Ektar in Supermatic Shutter
140mm f4.5 Ilex Paragon Anastigmat in Acme no.3 Synchro shutter

I have cleaned both of the supermatic shutters and they seem to be firingproperly.
All of the lenses are crisp, except for some light cleaning marks on the 127mm Ektar.

The two questions I would like to ask the group are:

1. Will the three Ektars will provide adequate coverage for the 4x5 format, since it is my understanding that some of them were designed for use in smaller format cameras.

2. Is it okay to thread the 105mm Ektar cell into one of the supermatic shutters and use the rear cell from the 101mm Ektar?

Thanks again for any help.

the 101 and the 105 (if it were whole) will not cover 4x5. The 127 covers 4x5 but not with much movement. The 140mm will cover adequately.

i have no clue as to what happens when you replace the front of a 101 with a 105.
Assuming there aren't any physical impediments I say go ahead and try it and see what happens. You may not be able to focus an image or you may end up with color fringing, but don't let that discourage you!
All of the early lens designers did this "what if" sort of thing. Write back and let s know what happens
