Hello all!

First post here as I just got my very first graflex AND first view camera/large format. I'm very excited to get started, and will be getting it hopefully late next week, or perhaps the week after.

Now for the meat of the question...

I was hoping to, at some point, try tintype/wetplate type shooting later on. I really wasn't sure how the GVII would handle this, and if there were any special items that would help me in my cause.

that would be the camera I purchased, and I'm also getting three more holders from him.

Thanks a ton in advance, and I hope to be a beneficial member to the community at some point!

Sorry for the ignored post. The answer is "probably not very well"

The biggest reason is ferrotypy is a wet plate process and I doubt you'll be using standard film holders to get the plate to the camera, so you'd have to adapt/adjust the ground glass to the register of the new holders.

Then you've got the mess factor. I restored the cameras they used at Greenfield village 25 years ago. The process is messy and the chemicals will stain, corrode and probably make a mess of the back of a GVII fairly quickly.

Any lens will work with tin type photography, though if you want the look of a 19th century tin type I suggest you find a nice Petzval portrait lens with Waterhouse stops. An older brass "magic lantern' lens will work (it's the same Petzval design) but won't have an aperture to adjust.
