Hello, all.
I've recently purchased a Toyo Super Graphic 4x5 Press camera and I'm trying to find out a little more about its production history and the lens that came with it.
Considering the camera tooling (for the Super Graphic) was supposedly purchased from Graflex in 1973, and the camera is listed as being produced from 1979-1985, does anyone have any idea how many of these cameras might have been produced overall?
The lens is a P-Toyonon 127mm f4.7. Any ideas about its origins?
Assuming it's an Ektar clone, who might have actually manufactured it, as I'm not aware of Toyo-view producing any lenses?
I found one person online (via Google Groups) who had the same lens and who had called Mamiya America (Toyo's present parent company/distributor) in 2001 about it. He claims he was told that the P-Toyonon had nothing to do with Toyo and that the lens was made by a company now a division of Minolta.
Any idea what company that might have been?
I have tried contacting Toyo-view Japan via email but never got a response. And I already conversed with Toyo-view in the US (at MAC America), who were unfamiliar with the camera. The person I spoke to at the parts department had never heard of it and couldn't provide any info.
I've posted this same question elsewere (photo.net, the Toyo User forum at Mamiya.com), as well as contacted a couple people in Japan, to no avail -- any other resources/historians who might know?
Any help appreciated. Thanks. |
