I understand there are grooves in the sides some filmholders, possibly for the same purpose as holding a rollfilm holder or Graflok back.

I made a rollfilm holder out of a 4x5 holder and a 6x9 camera but realized the body gets in the way of the Graflok viewing back. If I take the Graflok viewing screen off, I could make use of those chrome clamp tabs...butI want to measure three times & cut once.

Thanks

Murry,

Are you just letting us know or asking for measurements?

I pulled a Grafmatic, which I always lock in the Graflok clamps. The camera face to groove is .240.

My Polaroid 545Pro measures .198 to .238... Might be something wrong there? It looks like the metal clip is slightly recessed which would give a false measurement. Hmmm, at least .010 and would need a better setup to measure.

Okay, another Grafmatic measures .240 also...

Need any more?

Oh, the groove itself measures between .087 and .090...

My Polaroid 500 holder goes about .235" from front face to retaining side of the groove. Hard to measure accurately with a dial caliper, because the seating face is inset a bit from the edge of the holder. Generally, however, you'd want to use the thickest dimension that won't interfere with the locks to get a secure mount.

I really don't think the exact dimension is all that critical. If you look at the Graflok sliders, they tilt inwards towards the lens. This applies more holding pressure the more they are slid in. So any slot that approximates the above, and will fit the sliders, should work.

Another dimension missed is the groove depth. My Grafmatic measures .100 to .110 deep. This gives the slider enough room to move into the slot...

Thanks Rich & I-M.

I have a Polaroid 545 that I didn't think to look at, but since it's the last thing I had on the CG, I don't recall it having a groove.

This helps.
