Hi All.
I just got a 4x5 Super D today! I've been wanting one for a while now, but the prices on the auction site(s) were way out of my range! Well, anyway, I'm pretty sure this one is an earlier one, as the lens is from the 40's (I think it's from 48, but the serial number is hard to read on the lens. It's the usual 190MM Ektar with the auto-diaphram mechanism in it.
The camera serial number is: 416644 And if any of the guru's that have 'The List' would be so kind as to tell me it's date, I would really appreciate it.

Mike,
Until the keeper of the serial numbers responds, I can offer you some information. I have S/N 416532 and mine was dated 1947 (I assume very late since 1948 is listed as the first year of the 4x5 Super D). Mine has an Ektar as well. It does not have an Ektalite screen. It also does not have a badge above the lens door/shade that states "Automatic Diaphram". Upon close inspection, it appears that a badge was never nailed on to the body. The pre war 3x4 Super D Graflex' did not have a badge either. The camera is near mint and so orginal that I decided not to add a Graflok back, bright screen or badge.
My guess would be yours is 1948 for sure. Does yours have a badge?
Regards,
J. P. Mose |

Yes, my Super D has the badge on it. I sort of figured mine was from around 48 by the date code on the lens, but as lenses / bodies aren't always the original mates I wanted to find out for sure. Thanks!
