simple question, I think. I have a graphic view II and now a crown graphic. i use a schneider symmar 150mc lense on both which I switch back and forth. I shoot B&W and do my own darkroom. Would like to have a simple flash attachment, especially with the crown as I am going to do some hand held work. I use a basic hot shoe type flash on my 35mm contax. my question is: how do i set up the crown for a flash. (not bulbs)
can someone walk me through this from the beginning.
Thanks |

The answer to your question start with the shutter on your 150 symar. If the shutter has the X setting, and if it has a flash connector. With luck there is a round "pc" connector on your lense's shutter.
To set up for Electronic Flash, the shutter needs to be set to X and a "sync cord" from the flash needs to be plugged into the "pc" connector on the shutter. The f stop is set based on the output of the flash (Guide Number GN)and the distance to the subject.
As for an Electronic Flash there are all kinds of options, the only critical factor is that the Flash has the capability to use a Sync cord. Some units have a socket for a sync cord while others have the cord perminetly attached. There are a lot of cheap used flash units that would meet your needs, check with a local camera shop that deals in used equipment.
